On 28 th august 2023, Mr. George Simion, the President of AUR Party, met with Ambassador of Israel, Mr. Reuven Azar and. Mr. Yossi Dagan – Head of Shomron Regional County of Israel at the Parliament in Bucharest.

In the meeting with the Ambassador, Deputy George Simion, the leader of AUR Party acknowledged the responsibility of Romania for the Holocaust of the Romanian Jews (in the territories controlled by Romania during World War 2) and expressed his deepest regret. He specified that such horrors should never happen again to Jews, Romanians, Gipsy or any other nations of the world.

For this purpose, Mr. Simion added that every country, including Romania, should adopt the IHRA definition of Antisemitism and teach, within national history subject, this important page of the past, in order to make sure that all the future generations will know and understand the lack of humanity of those times and why it is vital to avoid such horrors.

On this matter, Mr. Simion strongly condemned antisemitism, said that AUR Party has zero tolerance for it, and stated that the Romanian criminal legislation punishes severely any manifestations of support and admiration for the war criminals or the members of the Iron Guard who took part to the Holocaust, including Ion Antonescu.

In order to continue and examine the cooperation and dialogue, Mr. Yossi Dagan  invited

Mr. George Simion together with an AUR delegation to visit the Settlements of Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem. Mr. Simion gladly accepted the invitation, stating that he would be honored to visit Jerusalem – the capital of Israel, together with Judea and Samaria – such important regions of Israel both from the political point of view, but also from the religious one. As Orthodox Christians, Romanians have a powerful connection with the Holy Land and Jerusalem – the heart of Judaism and Christianity.

The parties discussed and agreed also about the historical right of the Jewish people to build and live in communities and cities in Judea and Samaria, the cradle of history of the Jewish people since the days of the Bible.

All the parties agreed that sovereignty is vital for both Israel and Romania and no other country should claim a right upon their territories. Therefore, pursuant to this sovereignty, each country has its right to determine its capital and its laws, within its borders, and all other countries should respect them.
